I recently went on the Carnival Holiday out of Mobile Alabama, and I loved it! It's a great little ship. It was actually my first cruise. I went with my husband, as well as a group that I escorted. The ship itself was great, but I wish they had more activities during the day, especially on the day's at sea. Laying by the pool was a good way to take up time though. The activites at night though were great! They had Comedy shows, Broadway style shows, bingo ($1000 winnings!)Lot's to keep you busy! The food on the ship was wonderful! I think I even gained a few pounds from eating so much of it! We made it a point to eat in the dining room every night, because we don't really get a chance to dress up very often, and our waiters were awesome! They really made our dining experiance complete. Our Maitre'd greeted us every night with a great big hello, and had the waiters give us a good show, so it was definitely worth going to dinner every night! The captains dinner is the one that you for sure want to take the time to go to. It was the second day on the cruise. The captain was so nice! In fact, the whole crew was nice! They really tried to make your experiance a memorable one. Our first port of call was Progreso Mexico. I didn't really know what to expect here, since it was a substitution port for Costa Maya. The pier in Progreso was 5 miles long! The ride seemed extra long, because the driver had to drive really slow. There were military men every where, so that was interesting. Our tour guide talked through the whole ride though, so he made it pass by quicker. We booked a shore excursion through the cruise line (which I recommend for Progreso) so we were on our way to a Hacienda to go four wheeling! It was so much fun! (we got really dirty!) One of my biggest worries, was that we would not get back on the ship in time, but our guide got us back on with an hour to spare! Our second port of call was Cozumel Mexico. We did not book a shore excusion ahead of time for this port. We just put our swimming suits on under our clothes, and got off! Right when we got off the pier, we saw a sign that said snokeling $40...we had never snorkeled before, so we went in and enquired about it. The company seemed very reputable, and had been in business for a long time, so we went for it. I was a little hesitant, because I'm not a big fan of water, but as soon as I put my face in that water, and saw all those fish, I was hooked! It was amazing! At one point there was a school of fish below us, of about two thousand fish! Those fish were not afraid of you either! They were swimming right past us! Our guide was with us at all times, so that made me feel secure (even when 2 baracudas swam by!) They took us to two different coral reefs, and gave us plenty of time to swim around. They got us back to the ship hours before we needed to be back, so we got to take a nap before dinner, which was nice! Overall the cruise was wonderful, and my husband and I have some great memories.
